It has been a busy two months …
TWT has been walking in north-east Nigeria alongside EKAN (Church of Christ in Nigeria) for a few years now - building into their leadership. It is great to see the growth and especially young leaders getting involved. We are also stepping into a new relationship with another denomination (United Methodist Church) in the region which we are very excited about.

The young are the church of the future and it has been on our hearts for a while to do a Bible camp with children. And what greater way than to do it in combination with sport and games. TWT’s first Bible & Sport camp was held at the end of July. And as it stands we might have 2 or 3 of them next year, Lord willing. The feedback from leaders and others were just amazing. The young are like sponges - just taking everything in. We underestimate them in so many ways.

As our training grows and more local facilitators are getting involved the focus from our office side will be more and more on capacity building and seeing them grow on all levels of their life. It was therefor a privilege to spend time with some Nigeria facilitators in August and to do some strategic planning with them. Some said this was the best week of “training” ever, but nothing new was actually said - so the conclusion: They have matured and are therefor hearing more clearly and understanding better. To God be the glory!!!
It has now been 22 years of serving ALICT (usually somewhere between Paarl and Wellington in South Africa) with “Introduction to Bible Interpretation”. Our focus on West Africa has actually grown from this relationship with them as individual relationships sprouted from it (Hillary Yusuf for example). Every year’s training is different as the students are different. 28 students from 28 different countries. One of the highlights of my year!!
