Training courses

All our courses are based on adult-learning principles, known as dialogue education. The courses are very interactive and respect the participants by stimulating dialogue to draw upon each other’s insights and experience. As image-bearers of God, we all have something to contribute to our learning and growing.

  • This course is for everyone who desires to know God’s plan for you and the world better as it unfolds in the Bible. The Bible is one story, God’s story. The theme of the Kingdom of God holds it all together and is the central thread. The story begins with creation and ends with the renewal of all creation through God’s suffering servant king Jesus.

The course will change how you read the Bible for the rest of your life. About 24-30 hours of study for a study group.

The course is based on a Biblical theology approach of reading Scripture.

    • Course 01 Foundational Bible interpretation skills

The course will help you develop skills to study the Bible in depth and learn how to use its message in your life. It lays the foundations for a life-time of study and growth in getting to know God through his Word.

Practical studies of passages from the New Testament letters help you to grow in your study skills while at the same time letting the message impact your life.

  • This course is for anyone who wants to learn how minister sensitively among the poor to help them grow as image-bearers of God and as stewards of the things God has given them. Poverty is holistic, the gospel is holistic. But we often don’t see this clearly. We begin with good intentions but our approach in helping the poor can harm both the poor and us. The focus of the course is on growing in a (holistic) ministry of reconciliation that addresses all the relationships God created at the beginning – the relationship between God and people, with self, one another and the rest of creation - while we walk together with the poor to overcome their and our poverty by the gospel.

Part 1 of the course takes 40 hours in group study.

Part 2 of the course is taken later on when participants have had time to implement some of what they have learnt in part 1. It takes 40 hours of group study.

  • This course lays biblical and practical foundations for healthy nutrition and sustainable agriculture through responsible, respectful and caring management of farm resources in accountability to God, our creator. It emphasis good soil husbandry based on the principles of conservation agriculture which we observe in God’s creation. The practical method of conservation farming is based on decades of successful experience in African countries of Foundations for Farming (see https://foundationsforfarming.org/new/)

We promote this in local communities by catalysing FARMS groups (Farm Asset Resource Management Study groups).

Some courses are available in English and Chichewa and translation work continues to make all of them available in Chichewa.
